Roorkee temple

Located at Chudiala village of Roorkee district, Uttarakhand, the Chudamani Temple, is one place that guarantees to fulfill wishes of childless couples.

Sati mata

According to belief of local people, the temple has a blessing of Goddess Sati, as her bridal ‘chuda’ had fallen here; hence Chudamani Temple.

Boon to childless couples

Devotees, who wish for a child, pay obeisance at this temple and steal a wooden doll (Lokada) kept in the feet of Chudamani Devi; 

once they do it they are soon blessed with a healthy baby.

this shrine in fact encourages them to pull off this bizarre religious ritual of ‘stealing’.

Round the year, the shrine is flocked by people from all across the country, who wish of having a child.

And, that’s not all once a devotee has been blessed with a baby, they are supposed to visit the temple again, and return the robbed wooden doll.

Not only this, they have to keep another wooden doll, which is from their newborn’s side to the temple.
